Gary signs with West Texas A&M

Mon, 02/06/2017 - 11:55 am

Jacksboro senior Cody Gary signed a national letter of intent to play football for West Texxas A&M during a ceremony Monday morning.

Gary, the District 8-3A Defensive MVP, was surrounded by family members and teammates as he finished signing his letter of intent. Jacksboro AD and Head Football Coach Brian Hodnett said the actual letter of intent was signed Feb. 1, but his parents were out of town for the ceremony.

Gary, a multi-year starter for the Tigers on both sides of the ball, will be majoring in petroleum engineering at the Division II school, located in Canyon. Gary said he was honored to have his family and friends with his during such a momentous occasion.

“Thanks to everyone who came and supported me all the time,” Gary said. “Thanks to my teammates who I will be taking with me and are responsible for this. If you guys hadn’t worked hard as you did and we hadn’t made the playoffs and we went 0-8 instead of what we did, I wouldn’t be here right now.”
