Eighth grade falls at Iowa Park

Thu, 10/05/2017 - 11:46 am

IOWA PARK – Jacksboro Middle School’s 8th-grade football team gave up a 22-point first quarter Sept. 21 which ultimately sent the squad to a 36-12 defeat.

The Tigers are 0-2. Coach Brian Davenport said the slow start hurt.

We got off to a very slow start. We allowed 22 points in the first quarter before we really started playing,” Davenport said. “We played pretty even after that. We played better on offense as the game progressed. Domanik Hammond ran the ball effectively. “

Hammond had scoring runs of 10 and 50 yards for the visitors. Defensively, Gage Owen, Jacob Rushin, Josh Pierce and Hammond were the leading tacklers, Davenport liking the physical play of the group.

Jacksboro dropped to 0-3 Sept. 28 with a 22-8 loss to visiting Bowie. No further details were available as of press time.

The squad was back on the road Thursday at Boyd.
