Eagles catch Jacksboro boys

Thu, 01/25/2018 - 12:52 pm

Jacksboro’s varsity boys looked to open the second round of District 8-3A on a stronger note than its 2-5 first round record would show.

Unfortunately, so did Holliday.

After falling behind 8-6 to the host Tigers after one quarter Tuesday evening, the Eagles outscored Jacksboro 23-4 in the second quarter and coasted from there to post a 59-32 win at JHS Gym. Jacksboro dropped to 2-6 in District 8-3A and 7-11 overall while Holliday goes to 7-1 and 21-4.

Both teams had problems getting their offenses going, Payton Laake’s drive through the lane the game’s first points with nearly 3:30 gone. Laake would get some help from Weston Bowen and Cason Hull to put the Tigers up 6-2.

Holliday would tie the game at six but Clay Botello’s bucket in the final minute put the hosts up 8-6 after one.
