Craig, what’s for supper?

Wed, 08/26/2020 - 5:00 am

If you’ve never been inside the Tiger Stadium Press Box and trust me the outside doesn’t do the inside justice, you need to.

Many reading the opening sentence may wonder what makes it so special. Of course what makes a Friday night special outside the press box makes this one special as well.

Granted, it’s just people doing their jobs but the intermixing and intermingling of everyone makes it one little family. PA Announcer Therriol Du Bois usually get there 60 minutes early and I’m around around 90 minutes-2 hours before kickoff to get set and make sure folks know I’m there.

Why do we get there what seems to be plenty early? In my mind, anyway, it a guy named Craig Adkins.

Adkins is one of my coaches, guiding the golf program for many years here. He is also the man in charge of the Food Services program for the district, so you figure he’s gonna know a thing or two about food.

He keeps all the workers in the press box and, let me tell you, there are a bunch of us looking down on y’all fed and happy. While’s he setting up in the kitchen, he’ll get a few people wandering around asking what’s for supper.

Adkins is usually quite busy trying to get things organized but always has a time to shake a hand and crack a joke. I feel like one of Adkins’ favorite subjects as I’m usually told to get out of the kitchen and let everyone else eat first so there’s enough for everyone.

I know he’s being funny as him and i have always had a light hearted relationship, so I get out of his way. His food is worth it.

As we open the 2020 football season Friday night at home vs. Breckenridge, I was wondering if Adkins took food requests. Craig, I know it’s a lot of work, but I’ve got a taste for a good burger. Yours off the grill are always some of the best.

I’d appreciate the consideration.

Hope to see ya at the football game Friday. Those having a little time beforehand, the Tigerette volleyball teams are at home facing Windthorst. Varsity gets things started on Fridays at 4:30 p.m.

There will be plenty of Friday volleyball before football this year (along with a few Saturday get-togethers).

Give the girls some support. They’ll be supporting the boys later on in the evening.

That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading.

See y’all down the road.
