Bryson welcomes two new coaches

Tue, 07/13/2021 - 10:02 am

BRYSON – Bryson ISD announced the addition of two new coaches to be added to their staff; Emily Chenault at Bryson High School and Mark McCorkle at Bryson Junior High School. Chenault will bring her home-court experience, while McCorkle brings his seasoned coaching skills.

Emily Chenault
Chenault knows a few things about Bryson, having spent her last three years of high school in the district.

Now it’s time to teach what she was taught.

Chenault, who recently completed her degree at Midwestern State University in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis on teaching, comes home to her first coaching job in Bryson. She will be head girls’ basketball coach and assisting her former teammate, Kim Hauger, with volleyball. Chenault helping out with softball is also a possibility.

Mark McCorkle
When you love what you do, it’s hard to retire.

After McCorkle’s youngest son graduated in 2017, he decided 36 years of coaching experience, 21 years of it at Windthorst, was enough. He spent the next 3-4 years staying involved in sports, refereeing and umpiring different sports.

Staying involved was what got the ball rolling for his return to coaching.
