Bryson boys split pair

Thu, 02/16/2017 - 10:56 am

BRYSON –  The Cowboys held Woodson without a basket in three of four quarters to post a 35-25 win over the visitors. Friday The ‘Pokes are now 5-4 in District 17A while Woodson falls to 0-9.

Bryson then fell to Paint Creek Tuesday. The two squads break a playoff tie Friday at 8  in Throckmorton.

Woodson was held to 11 percent from the field for the game. Outside of the first eight minutes, Bryson shot 18 percent from the field and was 6-18 from the free throw line.

Bryson used buckets from Jon Alaniz, Braden Houser, and Jacob Smith along with a trey from Tristan Stephens to go up 11-1 early. It would be the start of a long stretch without a bucket for Bryson, which went 0-16 shooting in the second frame. Free throws by Houser and Tanner Buchanan would be the offense.
