Boys stay in first with 10-2 win

Thu, 04/20/2017 - 11:16 am

BOWIE – Mama said there’d be nights where you can’t find the strike zone.

Clay Botello knows the feeling, the junior pitcher having trouble getting command of his pitches Tuesday evening. While walking six in five innings of work, Botello and his defense were able to get out of jams while the Tigers got off to a quick start and made it stick in a 10-2 win over the Jackrabbits.

With the win, Jacksboro remained in a three-way tie for first with Holliday and Boyd at 8-3 in District 8-3A. Jacksboro is now 13-10-2 overall while Bowie slips to 6-5 and 11-14-1.

Botello struck out eight in his five innings on the hill before being relieved by Luke Dixon. In his second straight relief performance, he struck out three and walked three while just allowing one hit.

Jacksboro took advantage of a quick start offensively, scoring four times in the first.
