boys, girls split with Nocona

Jacksboro had its first home basketball night of the new year Friday, hosting Nocona.

The Tigerettes remained in a second-place tie with Paradise, which it hosts tonight, coming from behind to beat the visiting Lady Indians, 47-43. Jacksboro led 10-9 after one but the visitors outscored the Tigerettes 17-11 in the second to take a 26-21 lead at the half.

Jacksboro had a big third quarter, outscoring Nocona 16-7 for a 37-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Each team scored 10 in the final frame to put the Tigerettes at 4-1 in District 8-3A and 19-6 overall while Nocona slips to 2-3 and 17-7.

Junior Leah Plaster tossed in 16 points to lead Jacksboro with Haley Laake adding 11 and Trinity Tisdale eight. Freshman Averee Kleinhans had 15 points, including two three-pointers, to pace Nocona.

The Tiger boys weren’t as fortunate, suffering a 67-48 loss to the Indians.
