Baseball wins at Nocona

Thu, 04/20/2017 - 11:13 am

NOCONA – When in the thick of a playoff drive, even the little things become magnified.

The Tigers received a solid pitching performance from Ty Kennedy  here April 14 but a seventh-inning error nearly proved devastating to the visitors, which held on for a 2-1 victory.

Jacksboro is now 7-3 in District 8-3A (12-10-2 overall.)

Kennedy allowed one run on three hits and struck out 10. Kennedy was pulled in the seventh in place of Luke Dixon after a throwing error brought Tanner Cable aboard to open the inning. Dixon, who had gotten the start the previous Friday vs. City View, obviously learned from the experience and retired all three hitters he faced to garner the save.

Jacksboro took the lead early off Nocona’s Jeremy James, Lathan Lowrance opening the contest by reaching base, stealing second and third and scoring on a two out wild pitch. A groundout to second prevented further damage.
