Baseball team beats CV, falls to Henrietta

Thu, 04/13/2017 - 11:38 am

WICHITA FALLS – No matter the opponent, you have to come to play every day.

Jacksboro, in a three-way tie for first to end the initial round of District 8-3A play, headed to cellar dweller City View Friday, which it had beaten 14-1 in the first meeting. The Mustangs obviously remembered the matchup and wanted to avenge the setback by giving it everything they had at home.

City View took a 9-8 lead into the top of the seventh inning and was three outs away from its first league win. The visiting Tigers had something to say in their final at-bat, pushing seven runs across and corraling the Mustangs in what was a much closer than it looked 15-9 win.

Jacksboro is now 6-2 in loop play while keeping City View winless at 0-8. Tiger Coach Blake Belcher said his team needed a while to get rolling.

“If this doesn’t show why you need to come to play every time out, I don’t know what would,” Belcher said after the 2:45 contest. “The left hander (pitcher) they used kept us off balance but we just weren’t into the game.”
