Buried underground

Wed, 05/19/2021 - 5:00 am

Haven’t seen the light in days.

Not because it’s been cloudy and funky for much of the last week but I am swamped by everything going on right now and being pulled in a million different directions but both news and sports.

The big story, of course, is the Jacksboro softball team and their march on the road to Austin and a State Tournament berth. The Tigerettes swept past Coahoma over the weekend and now move further west in the massive Region 1.

Jacksboro’s next opponent will be Bushland, which is outside Amarillo. Best of luck to the Tigerettes in the regional semifinals.

I’ve felt pretty good by all the positive comments we’ve received on the radio for our work. Always good to be acknowledged for your work (not that I would know anything about that in my paying gig).

Other things going on this week include the first of three graduations as Bryson will graduate 22 seniors Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. We’ve been working on our annual graduation section and are trying to finish up on that as well.

I’ve had some big time help with all the Jacksboro profiles being typed up for me, which saves some time. I have Bryson and Perrin pics but not the profiles yet, so I am waiting on those.

Graduation at Perrin will be Friday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the stadium while Jacksboro graduation will be the same night at 8 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

By delaying the Graduation section, we’re hoping to add some photos of graduation and others related to the graduation. Balance that and the softball kids and you can see why I am buried underground.

Still, with the help of others, I’m always in pretty good shape. I know I can count on someone to get me through which helps bring in some light.

With rain coming nearly every day this week, however, the darkness continues. We need the rain as we all know what summers are like around here (God, help us all).

That’s it for this week. As always, thanks for reading.

See y’all down the road.
