Arey to lead JHS VB

Thu, 08/09/2018 - 2:36 pm

Having a sense of community and feeling comfortable where you’re at is important to anyone’s wellbeing.

New JHS Volleyball Coach Tennessee Arey can vouch for that. Arey left the head coaching position at Class 4A Mineral Wells, where she had been the last two years, to take the same position in Tigerland. Arey, who was named after a great aunt, said she knew what she was getting into in making the trip north.

“I was looking for a place to settle down,” Arey said. “I’m a small town girl and Jacksboro is a strong community. I think it’s going to be a great place to go home. I’m so excited.”

Arey, a self-described “preacher’s kid”, hails from Liberty Hill, northwest of Austin. She moved around a lot but wound up graduating from Peaster. She then moved on to Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Arey then became a college assistant at Paris JC before taking the head coaching position at Clarendon JC.
