Creative softball camp hosted by JHS coaches

Fri, 07/13/2018 - 11:37 am

It’s not often you see a bounce house at a softball camp.

In Texas, however, give Jacksboro Coaches John Bennett and Heath Tullous points for creativity and fun as the pair did just that along with some other things to keep cool and teach the sport at the same time. Roughly about 50 kids in grades 2-8 came out to learn a few things about softball.

Tullous said he came up with the bounce house idea which had a slip and slide format to enable the girls to cool off.

“Gotta do what you gotta do in this heat,” Tullous said while pitching to help the campers learn their bunting skills.

It was after the bunting skills portion of camp, held on the same field where the Tigerettes play their games, that the girls had the opportunity to use the bounce house/slip and slide feature. Bennett, in an opportunity to teach and have fun at the same time, had his campers trying to take their swings as he pitched ... water balloons.
