Six JHS track athletes qualify for regionals

Six Jacksboro athletes qualified for the Region I-3A Meet in Abilene next weekend.

Sophomore Baylee Thompson qualified in both the shot put and discus. Leah Plaster was third in the shot put as well. Freshman Hadlee Richardson was eighth in the triple jump with a 31’ 4 1/4” to wind up the field events.

On the boys' side, David Massengale was second in the 800-meters with a 2:03.07, qualifying him for regionals. 

Massengale was also a member of the second-place 1,600-meter relay along with Hunter Hackley, Victor Banuelos and Ke’Ondrae Sadler who finished in 3:31.59.

In the 3,200-meter run, Javier Palomar was 5th in 11:30.78 with Daylan Valles seventh in 11:40.97. Hackley was 5th in the 100-meters with a time of 11.51, just .1 out of a regional spot. Palomar was .5 out of a regional spot in the 1,600-meters, finishing 5th in 4:49.19.

Thompson and Plaster will compete in the shot put Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m. with the running prelims to begin at 2 p.m. Friday. The top 8 times in prelims will then qualify for Saturday’s running finals.

Thompson will then compete in the discus at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28.
