JHS girls win, boys lose
Jacksboro’s varsity baseball and softball teams gained a split with visiting Nocona Friday night here. The girls remained in the playoff hunt with a 12-8 win while the boys suffered a 4-3 setback.
Brief summaries of both games follow:
Jacksboro SB 12, Nocona 8
The Lady Indians wouldn’t go away in trying to garner their first 8-3A victory but three-run outbursts over the final two innings enabled the Tigerettes to go to 6-6 in the loop and 14-12 overall.
Nocona BB 4, Jacksboro 3
A three-run Indian fourth was enough to overcome an early deficit and send the Tigers to 7-3 and 11-11-1.
Jacksboro picked up a single first-inning run after a Fernando Piedra, a stolen base and an error, which allowed Clay Botello aboard. A Luke Dixon single and walk to Payton Laake loaded the sacks before a double play ball ended the threat.
