Perrin SB drops Bryson, 17-8

PERRIN – Lady Pirate softballers slapped out 21 hits against county rival Bryson April 10, breaking open a close game in the middle innings to take a 17-8 victory over the Cowgirls here.

Kaylie Anderson got the win in the circle for Perrin and led the offensive charge, going 5-5 with five RBIs. Perrin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. Bryson got on the board with a single second inning run which Perrin got back in the third.

The Lady Pirates scored four in the fourth to lead 7-1. Bryson wouldn’t go quietly, as they got the four runs back in the top of the fifth to get within 7-5. The hosts came right back with a six-run fifth to go ahead 13-5.

The Cowgirls scored three in the top of the sixth with Perrin besting them by one in the bottom of the frame to end the scoring.

Ashton Sims was 4-4 at the plate for Perrin, including two doubles with two RBIs. Freshman Niecia Gary was 3-4 with three RBIs. Molly Heagy and Kamryn Staggs each had two hits for the victors, Heagy batting in two runs in the process.

Mikayla Tyson was 2-5 with three RBIs for the Cowgirls with pitcher Kyla Jones going 2-4 with a pair of RBIs.
