Boys, girls fall to Boyd at home

Thu, 04/05/2018 - 12:05 pm

Jacksboro’s baseball and softball teams suffered tough home-field losses to Boyd Tuesday evening.

Brief summaries of both games follow:

Boyd SB 12, Jacksboro 6

The Lady ‘Jackets pounded out 12 early hits and took advantage of four Tigerette miscues to do all their scoring in the first three innings and avenging an earlier loss to Jacksboro.

Boyd struck for a pair of first-inning runs on Jordan Salmon’s homer but the Tigerettes came back in the bottom of the inning. Hadlee Richardson opened with a single and Carly Hart was hit by a pitch, the pair moving up on a wild pitch. A fielder’s choice play, which retired Richardson, brought Trinity Tisdale aboard.

Hanah Drennan aided her pitching cause with an RBI single with Tisdale coming home on a fielder’s choice play. A baserunning mistake ended the threat.

Boyd then struck for five runs in both the second and third innings to take a 12-2 lead. Jacksboro got two runs back in the third inning as Hart led off with a double and Tisdale drew a walk. Another Drennan RBI single and a Leah Plaster groundout cut the lead to 12-4.
