'Pokes split pair of games

BRYSON – Bryson returned home to continue district play and split a pair of games to go to 1-3 in district play.

Friday, the Cowboys played even with Newcastle in the middle quarters but strong starts and finishes by the Bobcats helped the squad pull out a 51-42 victory.

Newcastle led 7-4 after one with each team scoring 12 points in the second for a 19-16 halftime lead.

Both squads had 13 points in the third, keeping Newcastle up three, 32-29 into the fourth quarter.

Newcastle then outscored Bryson 19-13 in the final frame to keep the Bobcats perfect at 3-0 in district play.

Braden Houser tossed in 20 points to lead Bryson. Xander Tinney contributed eight points with Paxton Whitaker adding seven. Tristan Stephens, Dillon Orr, and Ethan Robinson had two points each with Harley Hammond adding a free throw.
