Quilt show coming up in Post Oak

In and Around Post Oak

Here it is time for the 2017 Busy Bee Quilt Show. The show will be Friday and Saturday Sept. 29 and 30 opening at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the afternoon. The Bees missed having their show in 2016 for the first time since organizing in 1975 due to damage to the Community Center.

We would like to invite quilters and quilt lovers to bring quilts they would like to display to the Post Oak Community Center on Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 10 am to noon. Quilts on display, new fabrics, crafts and other items will be for sale inside. A Trash and Treasure sale including used tools and household items, books and more will be for sale outside.

Lunch of sandwiches, beans and cornbread will be available for a small price. Tickets for the donation quilt will be available.

The red, white and blue Lone Star Donation Quilt will be given away at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the show will be $3.00 per person. We will be honoring two of our deceased members, Carol Turpin and Lois Rater.  We miss them and want to honor them and their handiwork at this year’s quilt show.

Betty Sparkman spent several days in the hospital this week. We wish her a speedy recovery and I’m sure Cecil will be happy when she gets home.

James and Debbie Logan are vacationing this weekend. I know they will have a great time and see many new places.

Nancy and Gary Conner visited in Granbury this week with their camping club. They were to attend a show at the Opera House. I’m sure they had fun.

The Post Oak Baptist Church, Brother Ford McElroy, has been ill and missed church for several weeks. He is feeling better but is still unable to attend church as of Sunday.

Visiting ministers have been filling in each week. A friend of Brother Davis who pastored here many years ago filled in as speaker Sunday. I attended the services and enjoyed the sermon very much. We pray Brother Ford will be well enough to join us again soon.

Michael Cooper told me at church Sunday that he has one more chemo treatment and his treatments will be completed. I know he and Kylia are happy to have the treatments behind them. We pray for good reports. Congratulations go to the Cafagna family as they welcome a new addition to their family. Eden Brooke Cafagna was born September 6, weighing 8.5 pounds to the proud parents, Cassidy and Ethan.

We hope to see everyone at the quilt show on September 29 or 30.

Thought for the week: Take a few minutes to be thankful for your blessings and say a prayer for those in need.
