After months of trying to get work on a pair of grants going, Jacksboro officials believe they have found administrators to do the job. Jacksboro City Manager Mike Smith explained during the Monday, June 12 city council meeting the grant administrators for the drainage and downtown grants, which the city had applied for 18 months ago, determined they could not perform the job.

The city of Jacksboro saw a decrease, while the city of Bryson saw an increase, in sales tax returns this month from the same period a year prior. These allocations are based on sales made in April by businesses that report tax monthly.

Jacksboro aldermen approved a pair of zoning changes as part of their Monday, June 12 meeting. Both changes were recommended by Planning and Zoning at their May meeting, but needed council approval to go into effect.

With a normal June day (hot and humid) scheduled, TNT Fest is all systems go Saturday, June 24 at Lake Jacksboro. The weekend will start at 8 a.m.

Martha Salmon will remain as Jacksboro ISD’s board president during a board reorganization at the Monday, June 12 meeting. The reorganization took place after the swearing in of incumbent board member Travis Jonas and board newcomer Leann Johnson.

Jack County Sheriff’s deputies had the opportune to hone their driving skills in a simulator last week. Texas Association of Counties officials brought their Driving Simulator to the Jack County Law Enforcement Center for two days of training.
