Craig Parson is in his second year as a Biology I teacher and JHS and says he loves his job.

He loves his job so much he invited JHS Principal Starla Sanders to see why.

“He has a very active classroom,” Sanders said.

As part of his featured teacher presentation before the Jacksboro ISD Board at its meeting Dec. 14 he showed a video of his students and how they’re learning in the classroom. They discussed what osmosis and DNA was and displayed models of their cells.

PERRIN – After a tumultuous first semester for schools everywhere, Perrin Secondary Principal Loren Sell announced what nearly everyone in the room was thinking.

“We made it,” Sell said during the Dec. 17 school board meeting. “It was brutal but we had our semester final exams done today.”

Sell praised the work of his staff including cafeteria, custodial, and teachers, all who had to take on different roles this year as part of COVID, but who all did tremendous job.

“I’m ready for January to get here,” Sell said. “I think we’ll ready for more normal to come back.

The state applauds the local medical center for ongoing initiatives to improving patient experiences.

Faith Community Hospital (FCH) has recently been awarded a certificate of recognition from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) for their participation and commitment to the TexasAIM Plus initiative.

BRYSON – 4-H livestock judgers here did a great job in a recent competition and received their awards Dec. 4.

The school’s intermediate team, made up of Braydee Thorne, Macy Hawkins, Dalton Birdwell, Jaylee Holmes, Kennadee Langhan, and Danzer Behling won last year and defended its title among 27 teams and 75 competitors at the contest held in early November. Club Sponsor Travis Thorne said the judgers stepped up and represented their families and the chapter very well.

Bryson’s competitors overall ranged from 7th to 14th place and in reasons from second to 11th.

Jacksboro Lions Club members give certificates and Sonic gift cards to those selected as leadership award winners for the second six weeks.

Southwest Mobile Dairy came to Perrin Elementary and Bryson Elementary today. Todd Griffin taught the youth about the importance of dairy foods and how cows are milked.
