$1M JISD lighting project expected to pay for itself

Jacksboro ISD was approved for an energy conservation loan for just over $1 million to install LED lighting at all campus facilities not affected by the 2023 school bond.

Issued by the State Energy Conservation Office through the Texas Comptroller, the district was approved for $1,051,774 to complete the project. The loan was guaranteed at 2.5% for up to 15 years.

JISD previously applied for the program, but with limited funding available the district was denied.

Sesquicentennial planning continues through final weeks

With just nine weeks to go, planning for Jacksboro’s sesquicentennial celebration is well underway with activities coinciding with Jacksboro’s homecoming weekend in September. The planning committee has booked entertainment and considered arrangements for vendors around the courthouse square, but they’re still looking for more volunteers and event hosts for the celebration scheduled Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26-27.
