Update given to LTRC

Case workers for the Tornado Long Term Recovery Committee are on the ground and .

Sandra Dixon, one of the case workers, gave a report to the committee during a July 28 meeting. She said fellow case worker Susan Coley and herself hit the ground running two weeks ago taking part in training. The pair split the list from the Texas Division of Emergency Management of about 300 people who said they needed assistance and have begun doing initial screenings to determine how best they can be helped.

Dixon said the pair have an office at the Jacksboro First United Methodist Church but do not have any set hours because of setting up appointments, Dixon said. The church office itself is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., however.

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) officials, who have been working with the Jacksboro group, are trying to get a face-to-face meeting to explain more about the committee and try to get information out on more of a one-on-one level. No date or further information was available as of press time.

Chairman Joel Hood said things went well in the group’s meeting with the Vision group July 11. The group offered to pay up to $5,000 for getting the LTRC a 501(c)3 set up, which is being processed right now by Ron Brown, an attorney in Montague County.
