Perrin selects new principal

Thu, 08/04/2016 - 2:51 pm

PERRIN – Former Perrin High teacher Karrie Wilhoit was selected as the school’s new principal during a special called meeting Tuesday.

The appointment will begin immediately.

Wilhoit taught English at the school but is also a certified principal, according to Interim Superintendent W.R. Tucker. She will take over for Elementary Principal Amy Salazar, who was named interim high school principal at the board’s July 22 meeting.

In other news during the 75-minute meeting, board members approved the bid of Maddox Construction for  $15,900 to make sewer system improvements and fix some water issues.

The issue was tabled at the last meeting until some board members could walk the area and agree with the recommendation of school staff. A sewer line will be replaced from the top of the hill on the district property to the concession stand at the football field. A new manhole will also be installed as well.

The problem was discovered earlier in the summer when water was seen in areas of the school building where no one should have been during the summer.
