Tue, 09/14/2021 - 6:20 pm

After a career at John R. Lindsey State Jail that lasted nearly two decades, Sandy Peevey is moving on to become the new executive director of the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce. The announcement was made by the JCOC Executive Board via email last Wednesday, Sept. 8.

“Welcome, Sandy Peevey as our new Executive Director! We ask that you welcome her into this new role and support her in any way possible,” the email stated. “We look forward to what she will bring to the chamber with new and fresh ideas!”

Peevey will begin her duties Oct. 1. She said the decision to become executive director was a relatively easy one.

“I’ve always been one to better and further myself, like I’ve done here,”Peevey said. “I’ve held a lot of positions (at John R. Lindsey State Jail), including my latest as executive assistant to the warden. This will allow me to continue my personal growth and help better Jacksboro.”

Peevey, a 1990 graduate of Jacksboro High School and has been in town 33 years, has been at the state jail for 17 years and says she will still be connected to the jail through the her new position at the chamber. Peevey said she has been involved with the chamber for the last five years as an ambassador, board member and in other areas.
