LTRC receives update

Wed, 09/28/2022 - 5:00 am

Tornado Long Term Recovery Committee members met recently to receive an update on how certain projects are progressing.

Committee Chair Joel Hood said the United Methodist Committee on Relief, which the LTRC is working with on the project, is looking to hire three new people for construction positions.

One would be a construction supervisor to over see the work going on at all the sites. The supervisor would also assist in finding funding for the project and make the connections with Home Depot and Lowe’s for items.

A project manager would be onsite every day to see what needs to get done is getting done. A third position would be in charge of keeping track of expenses of individual cases and be a financial “monitor”. The person will work with data bases and spread sheets.

Hood said they hope to begin the interview process in early October and have someone hired as soon as possible.

Case managers Sandra Dixon and Susan Coley have been making things happen and working with people on a list of those who needed help. A list in order of urgency will then be presented to committee members who decide funding.

Case managers are helping to fill out forms and making sure information provided is correct, such as address, have they gone through insurance, what have they got as a plan of moving forward etc.

Organizations such as Catholic Charities and other foundations can also determine if they want to fund an individual project. For more information regarding open positions, see ad on page 7 or contact Hood at tnfcoach@yahoo. com.
