JISD offering summer school

Jacksboro Independent School District will be offering summer school for students needing to recover credits lost throughout the school year.

All classes will take place at Jacksboro Middle School. Registration for summer school for high school students must be completed by May 25 at 3:30 p.m.

High School

Classes will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 31-June 16 either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Thursday. Summer school is available only for students needing to recover credits attempted, but not earned, during the regular school year. Summer school is not available for credit advancement, only credit recovery.

Courses offered include: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English 1, English 2, English 3, English 4, Geometry, and U.S. History. A maximum of one full credit (2.5 credits) may be earned.

Students must be present on the first day and every day due to the shortened timeframe. No student will be allowed to attend if they are absent on the first day. Student transportation will not be provided but breakfast and lunch will.

Middle School

Classes will be held June 6-June 23 Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Summer school is scheduled for students who have not met the requirements for promotion from one grade level to the next. JMS students who are not promoted at the end of the regular school year may be required to take all subjects offered during the summer session in order to be promoted to the next grade level.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Transportation will not be provided.

Elementary School

Summer school will be available for emergent bilingual students who will be incoming kindergarten and first grade students. Students will be prepared for linguistic and academic success.

Classes will run Monday-Thursday June 6-June 30 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Jacksboro Middle School. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
