Jacksboro Elementary School elementary students sing and sign “This is My Country” during a previous year’s Jacksboro ISD Veterans Day program. All three schools in Jack County will be recognizing veterans with special programs Friday.

Jack County communities have planned their annual Veterans Day programs to honor the local men and women who have served in the US military.

Jacksboro, Bryson and Perrin schools will each host ceremonies recognizing veterans.

Jacksboro ISD’s program will kick off first at 9 a.m. in the middle school auditorium, 812 W. Belknap Street. Elementary, middle school and high school students will participate in singing patriotic songs, performing a skit and recognizing veterans in attendance.

Next, Bryson’s program will begin at 9:50 a.m. in the school’s auditorium. Students and faculty wish to recognize as many local veterans as possible. For veterans who would like to be included or family members who would like their veteran included, call J.R. Stearns at (325) 201-1990 or email him at jrstearns@brysonisd.net.

At noon on Veterans Day, the VFW Post 8914 will serve a luncheon at the post, 220 Oakwood Ave.

All veterans, friends and family members or those in the community who just want to show their support for those who serve are welcome. There is no cost for the meal.

At 2 p.m. Perrin Elementary students will host a program honoring all veterans in the Elementary Gym. The students will pay special tribute to local veterans, staff who are veterans and close friends and family members of school students and staff who have served in the military.
