Hospital gives update on recent bad weather

Wed, 03/03/2021 - 5:00 am

Historical events such as the COVID virus and record weather of the last few weeks have gotten under Faith Community Hospital’s CEO Frank Beaman’s craw.

Beaman told the FCH Board at their last meeting the hospital and nursing home never lost power but they did close the clinic for a few days during the storm. Beaman said the hospital never had to fire up the generator.

The hospital never ran out of anything major except one of its catheter sizes but it never became a major situation. Through some hard work, CFO Bonnie Blevins said she and her staff were able to get payroll done so everyone would be paid on time.

The hospital recently began being able to do orthopedics with convenience, professional care and a local service. Hip and shoulder surgeries were completed Monday evening. The convenience has meant a lot as most folks are gone next day in many cases, Beaman said.

In other news, Place 4 Trustee Rod Hammond was sworn in to his position by Board Attorney David Spiller.
