Go Blue!

Wed, 03/31/2021 - 5:00 am

Every state in the union has battles between colleges.

Mine was no different, as Michigan and Michigan State usually took a back seat to Michigan and Ohio State. Michigan-MSU was usually good but much more friendly than Michigan-OSU which got downright nasty every year.

In 1987, we went to Columbus in my one-year old Buick Century that my parents had bought. I was up in the press box at Ohio Stadium thinking the vehicle was safe. Uh, wrong.

Got back to the car to find my tires slashed. Still, I felt really good that I had an uncle who lived three miles from the stadium who put us up while the car was repaired.

I’ve always been a Blue supporter and have enjoyed the recent run through the NCAA tournament with great joy. The battle with LSU and the thumping over Florida State Sunday where the ‘Noles were never in the game was impressive.

Tuesday night I split my interest in between Michigan-UCLA and the games I was covering in Henrietta. Our Tigerettes were trying to end the first round of District 7-3A play a perfect 6-0 while the boys were wanting to end the first round on a high note after a Friday home field loss to Breckenridge.

Thanks to wonderful technology, I was able to keep abreast of Michigan’s game and do my job. That’s really what makes for a wonderful night.

There’s about three weeks ago for the Tigers and Tigerettes.Second round action begins Tuesday at home vs. Holliday. The girls opened the loop with a convincing 7-3 win over the Eagles.

I have to say the crowds following both Jacksboro ‘ball teams have been nothing short of impressive this whole district campaign. Baseball parents have been arriving early to see the girls continue their successful season.

After the game, the girls have been sticking around for a few innings to watch their classmates play ball which always makes you feel good. Best of luck to all the things and team considered.

That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading. Thanks as there is a long way to go.
