Ex-County treasurer remembered

Wed, 08/12/2020 - 5:00 am

Former Jacksboro Newspapers editor and County Treasurer Kim Gibby was remembered by family and friends during a 40-minute service Saturday afternoon.

Gibby, who was county treasurer for eight years and spent 40 years in the newspaper business, passed away of a sudden illness July 16 at the age of 60. It was only fitting the service was held at Christian Missions Church, in the eyes of Pastor Eugene Weldon, as she spent many a Sunday morning there.

Weldon remembered seeing her many a Sunday repeating the Declaration of God, sitting close enough where he could see her. Thanking those who came to honor Kim after her very sudden and unexpected death, wondering why is only natural, the long-time pastor commented.

“We look at her life and I know from my experience she was a very faithful servant here,” Weldon said. “She cooperated and wrote articles for the newspaper for me. She worked with the nursery team whenever someone wasn’t around or missed a shift.”

Weldon said she was always faithful for each of the 35 or so memorial services every year hosted by the church, making sure was provided.

In closing, he encouraged Gibby’s three daughters to “run to the Lord”.

“ I still have my mom and I can’t imagine what it’s like to be without your mother,” Weldon said. “She will bring peace to all of us.”
