The Jacksboro City Council voted to appoint three citizens to the Jacksboro Economic Board of Directors after hearing from Board member Bryan Bumpus during their council meeting.

Bumpus recommended Kate Moore, incumbents Jerry Graybill and Brad Bouldin be appointed to the board.

The board member then discussed some of the projects which the EDC board and Executive Director Lynda Pack have accomplished since the EDC’s inception in 2009.

“The JEDC exists through the authority granted over 30 years ago by the state legislature in the Economic Development Corporation act,” Bumpus said. “This allowed Texas cities and towns to use a fraction of their local sales tax collections for various community service and improvement projects, to develop tourism, to develop sports facilities and focus on creating jobs.”

He said some of the projects the Jacksboro EDC has completed include the depot building project, Eastburn building project, restoring the city swimming pool among many others.

After Bumpus’ presentation, the council voted on who they wanted to name to the board. Pack said the terms are two-year terms and they are allowed to have three consecutive terms before having to wait one year.

The council voted unanimously to reappoint Jerry Graybill to Place 2 of the board. The council voted council member Greg Robinson to Place 6 on the board, which Moore was recommended for. Robinson abstained from the vote. The council voted to name Bouldin to Place 4 on the board.
