Commissioner James Brock resigns

Precinct 2 Commissioner James Brock resigned unexpectedly last Monday.

Brock, who has served on the court since 2014, reportedly walked up to County Judge Keith Umphress and handed in his resignation before last Monday’s court meeting. The meeting was being held at the Twin Lakes Activity Center because of an expected large crowd from the North Texas Heritage Association, which is against any wind farm coming to Jack County.

Brock was reportedly approached by someone Sunday in a retail establishment and was threatened. It was unknown whether Brock knew the individual.

Umphress said he had not heard from Brock since being handed the resignation. Sheriff Thomas Spurlock said there is no investigation as Brock didn’t want to file charges.
