Car theft leads to drug arrest

Thu, 08/17/2017 - 6:09 pm

A stolen vehicle complaint resulted in a methamphetamine arrest Friday, Aug. 11.

Jack County Sheriff Tom Spurlock said a complainant called the sheriff’s office at about 2:36 p.m that day and reported Teresa Dyane Degarmo, 30, of Perrin had stolen her pickup in the Fort Worth area. She had gotten a call that the vehicle was in Perrin and she was headed there and requested the sheriff’s office’s assistnace.

Deputy Eldon Hannah and Spurlock went to the residence and found the vehicle.

“As we pulled in Degarmo was coming out of the travel trailer on the property,” Spurlock said. “I asked her who she was and she told us she was who we were looking for.”

Spurlock looked in the seat of the truck and saw a black plastic box.

“And there the dope was,” he said.

He said there was a little more than 22 grams or almost an ounce. Degarmo had a set of scales also.

Degarmo was arrested and taken to Jack County Jail. She was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Her bonds were set at $100,000 and $6,000 respectively.
