Camps begin June 6

Summer day camps, sponsored by the Jack County Extension Agent’s office, will start Monday, June 6.

Camps will run through the summer from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the Jack County Fair Barn, located at 1072 Hwy. 59, or at the First United Methodist Church, located at 406 N. Main Street. Camps and age groups are as follows:

Photography (fair barn) is for children entering grades 4-6. Campers will learn about photography terms, techniques and their camera. Campers are asked to bring a camera, batteries and a memory card.

June 13

Sewing (FUMC) is also for those entering grades 4-6. Hands-on learning activities that kids will take home are featured. Working with sharp scissors, blades and sewing machines.

June 21-22

Science and Outdoors (fair barn) will be for those entering grades 1-3 on the 21st and grades 4-6 on the 22nd. Campers are urged to dress in clothes that can get dirty.

June 30-July 1

Arts & Crafts (fair barn) will be for grades 1-3 on the first day and grades 4-6 on the second day. Paint and scissors will be used and campers should dress in clothes they can get dirty.

July 12-13

Pinterest (fair barn) is for grades 1-3 on day 1 and grades 4-6 on day two. It will consist of trying activities, crafts and other things found on Pinterest. Paint and scissors will be used and wearing old clothes is advised.

July 18-19

Cooking (FUMC) Get your hands dirty learning how to cook.

Cost for each camp is $35. Registration needs to be completed and submitted to the extension office in the Jack County Courthouse one week prior to each camp. Each camp is limited to 10-12 campers but only seven for sewing.
