The Bryson Lions Club grew by one at its Oct. 16 meeting as they introduced Mechael Stephens as their newest member.

Stephens, a graduate of Jacksboro High School, moved to Jermyn in 2002 with her husband. She said she was moved to join the Lions Club after her experiences with them in her youth.

“When I was a kid I ended up getting my first pair of glasses from the Lion’s Club,” Stephens said. “My parents were divorced and we did not have a lot of money. Now that I have children of my own and they go to Bryson I figured it was a good way to get involved in the community.”

Brandi Bennett, Vice President of the Bryson Lions Club, sponsored Stephens in order for her to be able to join the club. She said Stephens has a lot to bring to the club, including a servant’s heart.

“Her childhood story means a lot to how she is today,” Bennett said. “She has a giving heart, she works well in a team and she is eager to perform good deeds around town with us.”

The Lions Club meeting also received a status update on the Bryson Senior Citizens Center, with Pastor Billy Rhone from First Baptist Church Bryson standing up and speaking on the behalf of the center.
