Bryson achieves superior FIRST rating

Tue, 10/29/2019 - 11:22 am

Bryson ISD announced its FIRST scores at their Oct. 21 school board meeting.

Bryson achieved a 96 on their FIRST rating, making them a superior school when it comes to their financial integrity.

Bryson Superintendent Greg London is in his first year at Bryson, but is proud of how his district performed.

“We exceeded the minimum requirements set forth by the state of Texas,” London said. “You need a 60 to pass and we scored a 96, which is a superior rating for financial integrity.”

The school district FIRST, or the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, grades every school district in the state on a 1-100 scale based on their financial audits.

Bryson is joined by Jacksboro, which scored a 98, and Perrin-Whitt, which scored 100, as area schools with a superior FIRST rating. In order to achieve a superior rating, school districts must score at least a 75 and have enough assets to sufficiently cover short-term debt.

Bryson School Board meets every third Monday of each month, with their next meeting taking place Nov. 18.
