Enjoy the outdoors with some chili

Chamber hosts OutdoorExpo/Chilifest

After a successful first year, the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce is hosting another Outdoor Expo and ChiliFest Saturday, Nov. 2.

There are some changes to this year’s event. After being held at the Twin Lakes Activity Center and Fair Barn last year, the festivities are being moved to the downtown square in 2019. The move is being done to accommodate what is expected to be more people.

“We are excited to grow this event not only for our community but for those in town for one of our largest industries, hunting,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Leslie Chalmers said. “This is a family friendly event with activities for the kids, great tasting chili and vendors to shop from.”

Having the event on the first day of deer hunting season had some naysayers a year ago, but did not seem to deter the crowds as more than 300 people attended the event. If chili is not your thing, there will also be vendors with everything from clothing and textiles to hunting outfitters, according to Chalmers.
