Venison Or Wild Pork?

I often get a kick out of ‘fooling’ some of my guest in hunting camps by cooking wild pork inconventional ways that venison is prepared and watching them brag on how good that venison taste. Some of these are the same folks that swear that wild hogs are not ‘fitten’ to eat!

Local students excel at Midwestern State University

Midwestern State University recognized 1,104 honor students for the Spring 2020 semester. The President's Honor Roll included 343 students, the Provost's Honor Roll included 341 students and the Dean's Honor Roll included 420 students. Amongst that group are six students from Jacksboro, four students from Bryson, and one from Newcastle.

Jacksboro Has Welcome Mat Out For Week End Spring Roundup

Jacksboro has been busy during the past week getting the welcome mat ready and out and the visitors already are arriving for the annual Spring Roundup staged by the National Association of Sheriff Posses and Riding Clubs.

Starting with an officers meeting Thursday night, the horse fanciers and their families will spend two big days with their playday games at two arenas.

Bye bye 2020 (and good riddance)

Well, 2020’s top story doesn’t take a Rhodes Scholar to figure out.

Right around Spring Break 2020, we all became familiar with the COVID pandemic which would rock the rest of the year in a bad way. It had effects on everything, including the economy, how we interacted with each other and brought some creative ways of doing both.

The pandemic also showed us different ways of going to school as students can now go virtually or in person. Most students still preferred to go to class personally instead of watching class virtually.
