Jacksboro City Manager Mike Smith told aldermen last week he still has to cut about $121,000 from the proposed 2024-25 city budget. During the Monday, July 8 meeting, the city manager said he is waiting for the certified property values to be released later this month before making any final determinations.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Wednesday, July 10 he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for July, 0.2% less than in July 2023.
Jacksboro Lions Club members learned about the Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center as part of their Wednesday, July 10 meeting. Jerry Bentley, a past district governor who has volunteered with the center for the last eight years, said the Midland-based facility sees hundreds of thousands of glasses since it began in the 1990s.
JacksboroISDboard members agreed to enter into a contract with E3 Integral Solutions to have all the lighting at the existing campuses retrofitted. During the Monday, July 8 meeting, JISD Superintendent Brad Burnett said the contract, worth $1,052,000, is contingent upon the district being approved for a State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Program loan.
