Ex-County treasurer remembered

Former Jacksboro Newspapers editor and County Treasurer Kim Gibby was remembered by family and friends during a 40-minute service Saturday afternoon.

Gibby, who was county treasurer for eight years and spent 40 years in the newspaper business, passed away of a sudden illness July 16 at the age of 60. It was only fitting the service was held at Christian Missions Church, in the eyes of Pastor Eugene Weldon, as she spent many a Sunday morning there.

Commissioners submit proposed county budget

The proposed 2020-21 Jack County budget has been submitted but no proposed tax rates were provided.

Certified property values, which increased by eight percent county wide, were given to all county entities July 20. County Tax Assessor-Collector made every effort to provide the no-new revenue rate, no new revenue maintenance and the operation rate and the voter approval tax rate. Passing of Senate Bill 2 initiated new terminology for both the effective and rollback tax rate.

Nebgen gets schlarship

STILLWATER, Oklahoma – A Jack County student was recently honored by the Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture with academic scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The scholarships are part of the more than $1.7 million that students will receive from the college and its academic departments. Students from all majors are considered for university scholarships, which can be combined with college and departmental opportunities.

Live Oak Baptist hosts clinic

The Texas Department of State Health Services will be conducting an immunization clinic at Live Oak Baptist Church on Thursday, August 20th. This clinic will be by appointment only, no walk-ins will be accepted. Please call our Archer City office at 940/574-2159 to schedule an appointment. All clients/guardians will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and temperatures upon entry to the facility. The client areas will be disinfected between each client/family.
