Lifetime PGA Pro Randy Brittain and wife Lori have acquired Jacksboro Golf & Sports Bar. The Brittains will relocate from Denton to Jacksboro making a full commitment to the 99-year golf course.
An update on the Jacksboro Skate Park was given during the city council meeting Monday, March 27. Park spokesperson Jeff Lewis said last year’s tornado caused him to “pump the brakes” on the park for a time.
Jack County law enforcement and county officials continue to work on ways to improve dealings with those with mental health issues. Officials met with Helen Farabee Crisis Centers March 29 to develop a plan of action on getting a rapid response team started in case of someone with those issues needing help.
The first of several informational meetings about the Jacksboro ISD bond issue took place Monday, March 27 at the Jacksboro High School cafeteria. While it was not one of the three “town hall” style meetings set for Wednesdays in April, the meeting of the Junior Tiger/Tigerettes did give JISD Superintendent Brad Burnett a chance to explain the $47.5 million bond issue, which will not raise the district’s tax rate.
I’ve reached a stage in life when I enjoy looking back through my many years as an outdoors person, recalling all the great times I’ve enjoyed with friends, many that are no longer around in person but the people and places I knew in past years thankfully are still very much alive in my memory.
While it’s been hectic trying to put lives back together after the tornado, a local church gave folks an opportunity to reflect and refocus their energy during a Night of Reflection last Tuesday, March 21. The Light Church hosted the event at the Jacksboro Middle School Auditorium.
Volunteers and the work they’re doing, and will continue to do, was the focus of the Tornado Long Term Recovery Committee meeting March 23. During Spring Break, a pair of church groups from United Methodist Churches in the Metroplex were in town working on cleanup and helping where they can.
Jacksboro ISD board members recognized regional and State qualifying powerlifters during their March 20 meeting. Landrie Valenzuela and Jissel Luna were both honored.
