PARADISE –  “Welcome to Wise County.”

That phrase, coined by Jacksboro assistant coach Alex Rodriguez, seemed to sum up Jacksboro’s feeling about the officiating, which left much to be desired in the eyes and minds of Tiger faithful Friday night (and in games past at Panther Gym here). The Tiger players seemed to fight their way through it, however, playing an inspired game, taking control early and never letting Paradise into the fray in a 54-44 victory.

Jacksboro is now 3-6 in District 7-3A with the Panthers slipping to 4-5 in the loop. Jacksboro Coach Aaron Bass praised his whole team for fighting through the adversity.

“I’ll give credit to the kids,” Bass said. “They all played their butts off.”

Bass said focusing on the players not beating themselves paid dividends early with both Keondrae Sadler and Wheelis Green taking their game to Paradise. The two combined on a 10-0 run to close the first quarter, driving and forcing their way inside for buckets and fouls, as the Tigers would take a 12-3 lead after one, despite shooting just 31 percent from the floor.
