Tigers receive TASO award

Wed, 05/19/2021 - 5:00 am

For the second straight year, Jacksboro has received a sportsmanship award from the North Texas Football Officials’ Wichita Falls chapter.

The award, which was presented at the Jacksboro ISD meeting May 10, is given to a large and small school each year. Schools are nominated by officials at the last NTFO meeting. The teams nominated are voted on by the officials and a winner is declared.

Criteria used by officials include player interaction with opponents, teammates, officials and coaches along with coaches interaction with their peers and officials.

According to a press release, there was much debate about the teams nominated for the award but it was clear to see why the Tigers were deserving of the award. Coach Brannon Rodgers and his staff were congratulated for their guidance and support to the players.

“The conduct that these young men exhibited on the football field is an example for all teams to follow,” the release stated.

The chapter provides officials to 33 area schools, 22 11-man schools ad 11 six-man schools along with youth football games in the area.
