Tigers looking to improve offensively

Tue, 10/08/2019 - 1:22 pm
District play begins Friday at home

After playing a tough non-district schedule and getting a week off to nurse some injuries and recoup, Jacksboro will begin District 6-3A Division II play Friday evening at home.

The Tigers are in the same boat they were in a year ago, taking a 2-3 record into the district opener with Comanche, who won the game last year with a fourth-quarter comeback. Tiger Coach Brannon Rodgers said the schedule has been difficult.

“We’ve played a challenging schedule to get us ready for district,” Rodgers said. “Everyone on the schedule is a good football team.”

As is the case with any season, there have been some bumps in the road, with the Tigers having several injuries which were not thought to be season-ending, but have forced the Tigers. The injuries may actually help Jacksboro down the road.

“I thought we would be healthier than we are,” Rodgers said. “We’re close to where I thought we’d be right now and when the kids come back from injury, we’re going to have more depth down the road, which is a plus.”
