Jacksboro’s boys basketball team went on a threehour ride for some tournament action last weekend at the North Hopkins Tournament, finishing 2-2.

TheTigersopened the tournament Thursday afternoon with a 56-26 win over Whitewright. Cannon Valenzuela’s eight first quarter points paced a 17-6 lead. Five points from Kasey Swan and four each from Valenzuela and Ryder Jackson paced a 16-point quarter for the Purple which led 33-13 at the half.

Swan’s third three-pointer of the game helped him lead the team in the third with another five points. Eric Pizana, Lando Belcher and Jackson each had baskets in the quarter with Jacksboro outscoring Whitewright, 12-2 in the third to go 4515 heading into the fourth.

Pizana led Jacksboro in the final frame with six points. Luke Sams and Bryson Crunk each had baskets late as well. Swan led three in double figures for the Tigers with 13 points, Valenzuela tossed in 12 and Jackson 10.

Jacksboro lost to the host team 41-23 in its next game. Bustos had three first quarter points with Belcher, Valenzuela and Swan adding two each for a nine-point frame. Jackson had the only points of the second quarter with a pair of free throws but added four more in the third. Belcher and Sams each had two with Bustos adding free throws. Va;enzuela added two points in the fourth, the only Tiger points of the frame. Jackson had six tallies and Bustos five for Jacksboro.

Friday, the squad didn’t over come a scoreless first quarter and suffered a 37-23 setback to Miller Grove. In the second quarter, Swan had a three-pointer with Jackson adding two. Swan added a pair of three-pointers in the third with Jackson adding three points.

Bustos and Valenzuela each had two points. Swan’s fourth three-pointer of the game and an Eli Jonas free throw were the only tallies in the fourth quarter. Swan had 12 points to lead Jacksboro.

In Saturday’s fifthplace game, the Tigerettes defeated Saltillo 51-41.A 15-point first quarter was paced by Belcher with eight points.Thejuniorguard had two treys. Valenzuela had four points and Bustos three. Swanhad three second quarter points to pace a ninepoint quarter. Valenzuela, Bustos and Belcher each had two tallies.

Valenzuela had two three-pointers to help a 12-point third quarter for the sophomore, Jackson and Sams each had two tallies.

Valenzuela had 21 points and Belcher 12 for the Tigers.

Jacksboro will head west Dec. 15-17 for games in the Jayton Tournament.
