BOYD – In its first road trip of the season Friday, Jacksboro’s varsity volleyball squad took a pair of losses to Poolville and the host Lady ‘Jackets in straight set setbacks.

Brief summaries of both matches follow:

Poolville 25-25-25, Jacksboro 21-16-10

The Tigerettes led 20-15 late in the opener but the Lady Monarchs pulled away and never let the Purple back into the match which took just 63 minutes to complete.

Senior Alex Holman tied the game at two which set the stage for a fourpoint Hadlee Richardson string for a 7-2 lead. Poolville came back to take a 13-11 lead before Holman rolled off five serving points, with some help from a Teagan Reynolds block and a serving ace, to take a 17-13 lead. A Richardson paid gave the squad its biggest lead at 20-15.

That would be the beginning of the end as Poolville tied the game at 20, Jacksboro broke serve for its final lead of the game before the Lady Monarchs rolled things out.

Holman staked the Tigerettes to a 2-0 lead in game two but Poolville roared back to take control. A Jenna Herd deuce and a Richardson pair would keep things close for a spell. Poolville went up 8-0 in game three, a Reynolds kill breaking serve. Aces from Herd and Richardson and a serving point from Harlee Richardson wouldn’t be enough as Jacksboro fell to 1-1.

Boyd 25-25-25, Jacksboro 8-21-15

After a game one rout, which saw Jacksboro come through with just one serving point from Holman, the Tigerettes made the last two games very respectable against their former district foes.

Holman put the visitors up 2-0 in game two. Freshman Kylie Tullous served up a point as did Harlee Richardson to extend the lead to three.

Boyd would come back for a 9-8 lead before Jacksboro broke serve and let senior Makenna McAnear roll off five straight points with some help from classmate Rhett Rollans’ block and an ace as the Purple led 14-9.

Jacksboro’s last lead was at 16-14. Harlee Richardson served up a pair late to get within 21-23 but it was too little too late.

Singles from Holman and Harlee Richardson put Jacksboro up 3-1 in the nightcap. A Reynolds kill broke serve and a Harlee Richardson point tied the game at eight. It would prove to be for the last time as Boyd took advantage of Jacksboro getting just one serving point, a Tullous ace, but it wasn’t enough.

Jacksboro will be on the road for the next four matches, playing at Archer City Tuesday (no results as of press time) before playing in a tri-meet with host Paradise and Lake Worth Saturday.
