Tigerettes end first round of District 7-3A play

The Tigerettes won game one made a valiant effort to force a game five but the visiting Lady Indians broke out of the game one slump to win the next three games 22-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-21 at Tiger Gym.

The end of the first round in District 7-3A for Jacksboro started off on the right foot. Sophomore Chloe Hart had a five-points run to stake the hostesses out to a 6-1 lead. Nocona came back with some short runs to go up 10-9 and eventually lead by as many as four.

Jacksboro broke serve and a five-point string from Kylie Tullous, who received some front court help via kills from Charli Haak and Erin Jonas to go up 16-14. Things remained close with the help of kills from Jonas and Rylee Mathis, who tied the game at 20 with her kill.

That would be the deal maker for the Purple which got a pair from Brailyn Tullous to go up two and never trailed again. Mathis’ single point would clinch game one for Jacksboro.
Nocona would pull away quickly in game two and more slowly in game three to go up 2-1 in the best-of-five match.

Hart again got her teammates off to a quick start in game four with a three-point string, including an ace. Nocona stormed back to go up 9-4 and eventually led by nine at 22-13.

The Tigerettes caught second wind by breaking serve and getting a pair from Brailyn Tullous, aided by a combo block from Mathis and Savannah Thompson. Kylie Tullous broke another serve with a kill which set the table for a three-point Mathis run to get within 21-24 to the delight of a small but vocal Tigerette following.

It wasn’t to be as Nocona secured the 92-minute match on the next point. Jacksboro hosted Breckenridge Tuesday night but hit the road Friday to take on Holliday.
