Tigerettes 2nd in North Hopkins

Jacksboro’s Tigerette varsity basketball team followed the same road as the boys last weekend, taking part in the North Hopkins Tournament.

The Purple opened the tournament Thursday by facing the host team and taking a 57-22 win. Jacksboro allowed just three first quarter points to get off on the right foot. Behind seven points from Kylie Tullous and shooting 5-9 at the free throw line, the Tigerettes led 23-3.

Brailyn Tullous and Landrie Valenzuela each had three points while Rylee Mathis, Emma Lee Gray, Avery Bennett, Lili Luna and Erin Jonas each had single buckets. The Tigerettes outscored the host team 11-5 in the second. Jonas had four points to lead the charge with Brailyn Tullous, Valenzuela, Mathis adding single baskets to take a 34-8 lead at the half.

Eight Kylie Tullous tallies and four from Mathis paced a 16-point stanza for Jacksboro in the third quarter. Valenzuela and Luna had the other Tigerette baskets to help Jacksboro lead 50-14 going into the fourth. A Brailyn Tullus three and single baskets by Valenzuela and Jonas accounted for the Purple offensive late.

Kylie Tullous led the Tigerettes with 15 points.

Friday morning, Jacksboro came out and defeated Bonham, 43-13. Kylie Tullpous came out strong again with a nine-point quarter. Mathis added seven and Bennett a bucket as the Tigerettes led 18-3 after one.

Mathis added a pair of second quarter buckets. Brailyn Tullous, Valenzuela, and Luna added the other baskets to pad the cushion to 28-10 at halftime. Jonas added three baskets in the third with Kylie Tullpous the other two baskets. The Tigerettes defense continued to shine, pitching a third quarter shutout to put Jacksboro up 3810 after three.

Brailyn Tullous had the lone Purple basket in the fourth. Kylie Tullous and Luna combined to go 3-4 at the free throw line to end the scoring.

Kylie Tullous had 15 points and Mathis 11 for Jacksboro.

The Tigerettes closed out pool play with a 3632 loss to Bogata Rivercrest. Kylie Tullous had all four Jacksboro points in the first, enabling the Rebelettes to take a 9-4 lead after one. The Purple got its offense going in the second, outscoring Rivercrest 14-8. Jonas, Mathis and Brailyn Tullous each had four points to put the Tigerettes up 18-17 at halftime.

Mathis had three points to pace Jacksboro in the third with the Tullous girls each coming through with a basket. Rivercrest outscored the Purple 8-7 to knot the game at 25 as the fourth quarter commenced.

Jonas and Mathis had fourth quarter baskets and the Tullous girls combined to go 3-4 from the free throw line. It wasn’t enough as the Rebelettes had their biggest quarter offensively to pull away and take the win. Kylie Tullous led the Tigerettes with 10 points.

Jacksboro moved onto the championship based on point differential in their games. The Tigerettes led 25-22 going into the fourth quarter but a 17-point stanza by Honey Grove enabled the team to post a 39-33 victory.

Jacksboro led 10-5 after one with Mathis having four points and both Tulous girls and Jonas each adding two. Lilli Luna and Jonas each had one basket with the Tullous girls combining to go 3-4 at the free throw line for all the offensive in the second. Still, the Tigerettes led 17-15 at the half.

Brailyn Tullous, Valenzuela, Bennett and Mathis each had two points to help extend the lead to three entering the final quarter. Mathis led Jacksboro with five points with Kylie Tullous adding three.

Mathis had 13 points in a losing effort for the Purple.
