Needing just 63 minutes to do so, Jacksboro’s varsity volleyballers ended the first round of District 7-3A play with a convincing 25-9, 25-14, 25-17 over visiting Wichita Falls City View.

Things were tight for awhile in game one, the Tigerettes tying the match at four with a serving pair from Hadlee Richardson. Richardson’s dink tied the game at five. Kylie Tullous broke the tie with a point.

Senior Alex Holman broke a 7-all tie with a kill. Classmate Harlee Richardson’s nine-point serving skein, which included two aces, broke things wide open with a 17-7 lead. Frontcourt work by Makenna McAnear, Hadlee Richardson and Holman helped extend the lead to 10.

Another Holman kill set up the final long serving run of the game, this one by Traci Berend, to set up match point with some help from Holman and a Rhett Rollans block.

Holman got game two off on the right foot with a six-point string, aided by a serving ace and a Tullous kill, which forced City View timeout. The squads traded points before a Teagan Reynolds kill set up a five-point run by the junior for a 14-3 lead. A Lilli Gonzales single and Hadlee Richardson pair extended the lead back into double figures at 20-10.

Reynolds’ pair late set up game point at 24-13 and the squads’ traded points to end game two.

City View continued its slow improvement in the finale, but the Tigerettes used a big lead early to hang on for the win. A three-point Hadlee Richardson string, aided by a Reynolds kill, staked Jacksboro to a 5-1 lead.

Harlee Richardson later rolled off four straight to move the lead to 13-4. A four-point run by Olivia Marks cut the lead to 12-16.

Jacksboro used single points from Hadlee Richardson, Tullous and Reynolds kept Jacksboro up six, 22-16. Still, it was a pair from Harlee Richardson with kills from Holman and Reynolds on the finale.

Jacksboro traveled to Nocona for a Friday game and Breckenridge Tuesday. No stats were available as of press time.
